In 1885 she emigrated to Nova Scotia, Canada with her parents and siblings and then in 1886 to Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania.

Margaret Grierson married the Rev. Peter Thompson on 13 October 1892 in Pittsburgh, PA. By 1900 the family moved to Tonawanda, Erie, NY and then to Hamburg, Erie, NY.

Margaret and her husband were the parents of 3 children:
