Marguerite "Margaret" Tahamont Benedict

Marguerite was married to Lazare Tahamont in 1854 and they had one son, Lazare. She was widowed and married Samuel Benedict in 1870. They had 2 girls and she was widowed again in 1889.

Marguerite and Samuel travelled between NY State, Ohio and Odanak Que. Lila Steele remembers Sam as being a doctor, but she may mean "indian doctor" (herbalist).

She is on the 1901 census in Odanak with her 96 year-old father Thomas Msadoquis, a daughter and 2 grand-daughters.

1892 NY State census for Warren NY, she is listed with 15 y/o Maude Benedict. Both list occupation as fancy basket [makers]

Died at age 67; buried in Lake George Cemetery; per 23 Jan 1908 obituary published in The Warrensburg (NY) News

• "Mrs. Margaret Benedict, 67, died Friday night at her home in Lake George. She is survived by a daughter and son, Maude Benedict and Elijah Benedict; one brother, Israel Sadoques of Mass., and a sister, Mary Obouomswiss of Canada. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at St. James Church, Lake George."
