by Jose Barreras Torres
Maria Sesa Arias Herrero is my earliest ancestor to have been born in the Aztec, more specific the Toltec peoples of modern day Mexico during the onslaught brought there by Spaniards. She plays a vital role in my ancestry as she and her daughters have contributed to the mix of European more specific Spanish blood with the Indigenous peoples of the land during and subsequent to the Conquest by Hernan Cortes and followers. It adds so much to my heritage and gives me permission to feel the compassion for life and at the same time know what it means to have had to submit to forces beyond the control of the native armies against the European forces.
