"Mrs. Maria Grimes, widow of P. M. Grimes, died at the home of her son, H. A. Grimes, South Washington street, Wednesday morning, March 20, aged 91 years, of infirmities incident to old age. Mrs. Grimes was a daughter of David and Lydia Ridgeway and was born in Franklin township. In 1841 she was united in marriage with P. M. Grimes, who was a merchant at White Cottage. His death occurred several years ago. She was a charter member of the Valley Chapel M. P. church and always took an active part in church work. She was most highly esteemed. Mrs. Grimes had always enjoyed excellent health and was quite active for one of her years. The following children survive: William Grimes, of Franklin township; Mrs. O. P. Scott, of Holbrook; D. P. Grimes, of Dighton, Kansas; H. A. Grimes, of Waynesburg; G. W. Grimes, of Woodruff; James, of Mt. Vernon, N. Y., and A. L. Grimes, of Waynesburg. Short funeral services will be held Thursday evening at 7:30 o'clock, conducted by Rev. David Jones. On Friday morning the remains will be taken to the Valley Chapel church, where services will be held. Interment in the Valley Chapel cemetery."
