As an infant, she came with her parents to Norway Township in Traill County, to make her home. Being baptizd in the Aal Lutheran Church and confirmed Nov. 11, 1888.

Being the oldest, Maria had to work hard. Many outdoor jobs fell to her, as her father was killed, when she was eight years old.
On Jan. 14, 1899, she was married to Anton O. Strom, by Pastor J.R. Rorvik, at Hillsboro. The family made their home on a farm in Norway township.

Anton passed away May 25, 1925. Maria continued living on the farm, having her sons, Arthur and Norman help her and also building a new home, which was their start in the carpenter trade.
She was busy early and late with her small farm and helping her aged mother and nursing her when she was ill. Maria always looked forward to Sunday, when her children and grandchildren would gather at her home.
She passed away Feb. 17, 1951, at the age of 76, and is buried in the Aal cemetery.
She leaves seven children: Mrs. Ingvald Bjore of Fergus Falls, MN; Mrs. Ernest Brovold of Portland, ND; Mrs. Henry Neset, Mrs. Gustav Hanson, George, Arthur and Norman of Mayville.
