Maria Montes Larrazolo

Mrs. O A Larrazolo, widow of the late governor and onetime US Senator, died in the hospital after an illness of 18 months. She was the second wife of OCTAVIANO LARRAZOLO.

Married in August of 1882. In 1895 Octaviano and Maria Larrazolo moved their family to Las Vegas, New Mexico. Octaviano is also buried in Santa Barbara Cemetery.

Daughter of Carlos Garcia and Marina Montes. She was the granddaughter of Telesforo Montes and Quirina Alderete. She was also the granddaughter of Gregorio Nacianceno Garcia I and Maria De Los Santos Alvillar.

Maria was the first young lady to graduate from the Academy in San Elizario run by the Sisters of Loretto, the first school for girls West of San Antonio, Texas.
