Ludwig/Louis and Marie/Mary divorced before 1900. In the 1900 Federal Census, he states he is divorced. The family was split with two children, Vincent and Frances, going with Ludwig to North Dakota and three, Peter, Agnes, and Gertruda, staying with their mother in Winona. The spelling of their last names are different after the divorce. His last name is now Rudnick and hers stays as Rudnik.

  Mrs. Mary Rudnik, 90, former Winona resident, died at a Rochester Hospital at 2 p.m. Wednesday [May 30,1951]. Death was due to the infirmities of old age. She was born in Winona May 20, 1861, and was a member of the Sacred Heart society of St. Stanislaus church. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Max Rivers, Winona; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Pauline Lewinski, Winona. Funeral services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Stanislaus church, the Rev. N. F. Grulkowski officiating. Preliminary services will be at the Watkowski funeral home at 8:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. Members of the Sacred Heart society will say the rosary at the funeral home Friday at 6:45 p.m. and Father Grulkowski at 8 p.m. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday
