History

June 24, 1432 Maria married Slovenian prince Boguslav IX , cousin of Denmark , Norway and Sweden, Erickson , who, according to agreements with the states of Sweden and Denmark, had succeeded in these kingdoms. Marriage with Prince Słupski strengthened the anti-cross alliance of Boguslav IX with Władysław II Jagiełło, which resulted in the Teutonic Order losing ground communications with the Reich. The Teutonic Knights tried to prevent this marriage. For this reason Boguslaw IX, fearful of the assassination, arrived in Poznań in a guise of a pilgrim.

After the death of her husband (7 December 1446) to return in 1449 his successor, Eric Pomorski, Maria was governor in the Duchy of Slupsk. At that time, Eryk Pomorski after detronizacjach the Scandinavian thrones in the years 1439-1442 was on the island of Gotland , where leaseback piracy , harassed the Swedes and Danes.

From the June 24, 1432 marriage to Boguslav IX the world came: Zofia (wife of Eric II and mother of Boguslav X ) and Alexander and the difficult number of daughters who died in childhood. Maria died on 14 February 1454. Her body was deposited in the castle church in Slupsk . During the renovation work in 1788 her sarcophagus was found, which was burnt.
