About Marie Conille

Marie Conille was the daughter of Pierre Conille and Marie Giton. She was baptized on 27-Sep-1665 in Saint-Nicolas of Rochelle in Aunis, France. She arrived in Nouvelle-France when she was a young girl with her mother where we find on 14-Aug-1669 her mother cancelled a marriage contract in front of the notary public Becquet. Marie's father, Pierre Conille, never came to Nouvelle-France. Marie was married when she was 17 years old. The marriage produced twelve children. She died in July of 1737 in Saint-Jean, Ile d'Orleans, Nouvelle-France.

On the subject of whether Etienne and his wife Marie were Huguenots:

"Both Étienne and his wife were baptized in Catholic Churches. I have seen Étienne's baptismal record. Plus, he was not born in La Rochelle. His wife was. "Although it is true you had to be Catholic to move to Nouvelle France, the problem was easily solved. Many just renounced their protestant faith when they landed in Québec. "Although in Étienne and Marie's case, that was not necessary. They were already Catholic." Biography

Marie Conille was the daughter of Pierre Conille and Marie Giton. She was baptized on September 27, 1665 in St-Nicolas of Rochelle in Aunis,France. She arrived in Nouvelle France when she was a young girl with her mother where we find on August 14, 1669 her mother cancelled a marriage contract in front of the notary Romain Becquet. Marie 's father, Pierre Conille, never came to Nouvelle France. Canada Nouvelle-France Marie was married when she was 17 years old. The marriage produced twelve children. Etienne Fontaine married Marie Conille on February 8, 1683 at St Laurent church on the Ile d'Orleans on the St-Lawrence River of New France,now Canada. In 1689, we could find the couple in St Jean of the Ile d'Orleans in an established residence. They occupied ground number 44 with a land surface of 3 arpents. Today, this ground carries the civic numbers 1229 and 1233 Chemin Royal (Royal Path) in St-Jean, Ile d'Orleans.
