Marie Deakin

Gordon and Marie C Deakin passed away quickly in an auto accident on Sunday evening, October 30, 2005.

- You never heard "Gordon" without "Marie", it was fitting that they go together. 

Gordon was introduced to Marie by his sister, Irene. They had a delightful courtship and became the "kissiest couple" after their marriage in the Salt Lake LDS temple on April 21, 1941.

Marie was born on November 5, 1921 in American Fork, Utah to Edward Amos and Sarah Rosebell Erickson Clements. A woman of many talents, and a deep love of our savior Jesus Christ, her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. A dearer person few have ever met.

She is survived by seven daughters and one son; 35 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren. All of whom will cherish her always.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Robinson, son-in-law Rulon Porter and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on November 4, 2005 a beautiful Autumn day. It rained all day, yet suddenly stopped when the doors opened following the service, it rained hard as we traveled from Sandy, Utah to the American Fork cemetery, and again stopped when the hearse pulled into the cemetery. Not a drop fell on their caskets until the services were completed and the last few of the crowd was leaving.

Oh how we miss our parents, moms wonderful apple pie, their family gatherings, dads laughter, her sewing, their service, their loving advice and tender care & concern - more than these we miss our greatest advocates, our cheerleaders, our dear friend.
