About Marie Marguerite Emory
Husband: Harold Homer Emory
A resident of Maringouin, she died Saturday, July 10, 1999, in College Station, Texas, where she had lived with her daughter and son-in-law since 1997. She was born in Reserve on July 14, 1902, the sixth of 10 children of 28th District Judge and Mrs. Prentice Ellis Edrington Sr. She attended elementary school in Reserve and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in New Orleans in 1920. Her great-grandfather, Morris Price Edrington, was publisher of L'Observateur in Reserve in the early 1800s. She married Harold Homer Emory of Choudrant on Aug. 17, 1927, and in 1936, they made their home in Maringouin. He was a teacher and assistant principal of Shady Grove School. He died May 29, 1980. A lifelong Catholic, she received an apostolic blessing from Pope Paul VI in 1979 for her work with Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Maringouin. She is survived by her daughter, of College Station; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. Mass of Christian Burial was at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Maringouin, celebrated by the Rev. Shelton Fabre, pastor.
