Loretta L (Potvin) Levesque -- Smithfield

Levesque, Loretta Lillian, 92, of 5 Sidney St., Smithfield, died peacefully Monday at the Haven Health Center, Greenville, under the care of Beacon Hospice. She was the wife of the late Aime A. Levesque.

Born in Farnham, Quebec, Canada on March 1, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Bernadette (Arbec) Potvin. She came to this country at the age of 7, settled in Rhode Island, and became a United States citizen in 1940. She moved to the Smithfield area 38 years ago, and was a communicant of St. Michael Church in Georgiaville. Previously, she was a member of the St. Matthew’s Parish in Central Falls for 25 years.

She worked at Elizabeth Webbing, Pawtucket for 11 years before retiring in 1979. Following retirement, she became an active member of the North Providence and Smithfield Senior Centers for many years. She loved quilting, ceramics, and taking trips with members of the Senior Center, but her passion in life was cooking for her family.

She leaves one son, Richard (Ellen) of Putney, VT, and two daughters, Pauline (David) Marley of Miami, FL and Jacqueline (Kenneth) Longtin of Greenville, RI, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be Friday, October 19th from 9:30 to 10:30 am in the ROBBINS FUNERAL HOME, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Michael Church, Georgiaville. Burial will take place in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore Blvd., East Providence, RI 02914.
