Mrs. Mary Sticha died at one o’clock on Saturday morning, July 10, 1909, at the home of her son, August W. Sticha, where she had been living for some time. Her death was due to heart failure and other complications due to old age.

She was born January 6, 1832, in Bohemia and was married there in 1846. They came to St. Benedict, Scott Co., where they lived for 10 years and then they moved to a farm in Wheatland township and finally came to New Prague to reside in 1888. She is survived by seven sons- Wencl Sticha, of Lonsdale; Charles Sticha, of Wheatland Township; Joseph Sticha, of Cedar Lake; Frank Sticha, of Minneapolis; John Sticha, of Conway, N. D.; Anton Sticha, of Clarissa, Minn.; and August Sticha, of New Prague -three daughters- Mrs. Theresa Sepple of Minneapolis; Mrs. Frank Bazil and Mrs. F. J. Dvorak, of this city; and one sister- Mrs. Jacob Vanek, of Lonsdale. She was of a kind and affectionate disposition and was liked by all who knew her. She was a member of the Saced Heart League and the society attended the funeral in a body.

The funeral, which was very largely attended, was held at 10 o’clock on Monday morning from the Catholic church, where Rev. Dean J. K. Cermak sang a requiem high mass and officiated at the funeral. The interment was made in the local cemetery beside her deceased husband. All the family were at the funeral, but Anton, who arrived too late.
