About Marion G Curtis
Marion and her sister were both born at the farm, where Raymond and Bessie lived at that time. Mom (Marion) always talked of being raised by her grandparents, as her mother had to work the farm. It appears instead that they lived in the same community, therefore, while Bessie (my grandmother) was free to help care for the children.
Raymond left the family when Mom was about 2 months old. He seemed to simply disappear from the area and is found on the Social Security records as having died in San Francisco, California.
Mom was a very good cook. She loved cooking, and making deserts. For our school parties, she could be counted on to provide some absolutely wonderful cookies, cupcakes or a cake. Sugar cookies carefully cut from a character in a coloring book were her specialty. Her sugar cookies were soft, tasty and always iced with details carefully put in to the final appearance of the character.
