The death of Mrs Marit Loe died last Thursday evening at 10:15 pm saw the passing away of one of Canton's oldest settlers. She was beloved by all who knew her and as a wife and mother, her presence will be missed.

The deceased was born at Rise, Opdal, Norway, May 17, 1847, and came to this country in 1882 and located at Canton, South Dakota, where she has resided ever since.

Besides a husband, she leaves to mourn her sudden death, three children, Mrs. I. M. Helmey of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Mrs P. Helland of Fedora; and Hans Loe of Canton, South Dakota; and four brothers , Paul Rise of Norway; Albert Rise of Sioux City, Iowa; and Ole Rise of Arlington, Washington. The body was laide to rest in the Lutheran cemetery east of town. ~ Dakota Farmers' Leader, Canton, South Dakota; 17 February 1911.
