MEMORIAL PHOTOS 16 FLOWERS 2 Marjorie Ellen Miller was born to O. Muriel Miller and George Dewey Miller in Clayton, Missouri, in 1923. She was the third of four children. In 1927 her mother took her and her brothers to live on their maternal grandparents' farm outside of Sedgwick, Kansas.

Marjorie graduated from Sedgwick High School in 1941, and worked for Beech Aircraft Corp in Wichita, Kansas, during the buildup to WWII.

She married Virgil Pierce in 1943, and for a short time they lived in Alabama and North Carolina during his military training for WWII. During the war, Marjorie lived in Wichita with her future sister-in-law, Mary (Fyfe) Miller.

Following the war, the couple lived in Wichita, where Marjorie worked at McConnell AFB and Virgil worked for the Veterans Administration. Marjorie also worked as a caring homemaker and a devoted mother, teaching and raising two sons:

• Dennis Wayne Pierce, born in 1947 • Timothy Lee Pierce, born in 1950

She was loved.

In 1952, Marjorie and Virgil purchased their first house, where they and their boys lived for 8 years before moving to Topeka in 1960.

In Topeka, Virgil worked for the Federal Housing Administration and Marjorie worked as a personal secretary, first for their church, then for the Chief of Police, and finally for a SVP at Southwestern Bell.

Virgil passed away in 1999, and soon after that Marjorie moved to Overland Park, Kansas, to be nearer to her son Tim and his family. Marjorie and Virgil are buried together in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, Kansas, near other members of the Miller and Pierce families.
