Mark Cobley

Mark Cobley was born in Mynyddislwyn abt. 1827. He lived in Bedwas upper (now Maesycwmmer) in 1861 working as a coal miner. He died on 19 Mar 1898 at 70 years of age and was buried in Tabor Chapel, Maesycwmmer. Mark married Ruth Richards. Ruth was born in Mynyddislwyn abt. 1829 and was the daughter of Edward Richards who owned Gwerna farm, Maesycwmmer. Ruth died 15 Nov 1897 aged 68 years of age and was also buried in Tabor Chapel, Maesycwmmer

Mark and Ruth had the following children:-

Obediah (Obed) Cobley born Bedwas abt. 1851.

Lemuel Cobley born Llanwonno abt. 1853. Lemuel died 15 May 1868 at 14 years of age.

Mary Cobley born Bedwas abt. 1856.

Thomas Cobley born Bedwas abt. 1858.

Jane Cobley born Bedwas 29th June 1860.

Edward Cobley born Bedwas abt.1862.

Daniel Cobley born Maesycwmmer 30th Dec 1867.

Sarah Cobley born Maesycwmmer 16th April 1870. Sarah was enrolled initially in Maesycwmmer school on 7th Jan 1878 and subsequently on 24th April 1878.
