From Greshams at War and Mark Carr Hill

Mark Carr HillL, who was a Lieutenant in the Leicestershire Regiment, was killed in action on 14 July 1916. Born on 12 April 1894, he entered the School in May 1906, and left in July 1913. He was Captain of his House and a School Prefect. He went up to Magdalene College, Cambridge, in October 1913. He got his commission in August 1914, and was later gazetted to the Leicestershire Regiment. He was promoted Lieutenant in October 1914. He went out to France in August 1915, and was wounded by a sniper's bullet in October. He rejoined his old battalion again at the beginning of February 1916, and was killed in fire in the Battle of the Somme, near Monchy, on 14 July 1916.
