Mark Percy Da Maduro Peixotto, son of Benjamin Franklin Peixotto and Hannah Straus, was a native of Cleveland, Ohio. His family moved to San Francisco, California in 1866, and then to Bucharest, Romania after 1870, when his father became the first American Consul General there. His father was also Consul General at Lyons, France, where Mark Percy studied at the Lycée et l'École de Commerce. The younger Peixotto also served as United States Deputy Consul at Lyons.
Peixotto married Katherine de Sadowska, daughter of General de Sadowska, on 22 Nov 1887 at his parents' home in New York City. He served as director general of the Equitable Life Assurance Company. In addition, he was president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Paris and the representative in France of the American International Corporation. Peixotto was also president of the American Club of Paris. He was an officer of the Legion of Honor of France.
Peixotto spent much of his life in France and died there in 1938 at age 75. His remains were cremated.
