About Mark David Robertson

Mark D. Robertson, 85, died of cancer at his home in Cody on Dec. 20, 2005.

He was born Oct. 21, 1920, in Lovell to Bryant and Amelia Harris Robertson. He attended Lovell schools from which he graduated. In April 1938 he was proclaimed "Farmer of the Year."

He served in the cavalry for a short time before he attended the University of Wyoming and Brigham Young University. He served during World War II after which he moved back to Lovell where he became a farmer.

Mr. Robertson married Beverly Jameson on Aug. 18, 1948, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They had five boys, Reed, Brian, Dane, Kevin and Eric Robertson.

He continued serving his country in 1942 when he served in every branch of the service before his discharge from the National Guard in 1963. Upon his return, he served on the Lovell Town Council for several years.

The Robertson family then moved to Cody where he sold insurance for a short time before he started his career in the hay cubing business. He loved serving his family and church.

He also served on the Northwest College Board for 16 years, and then he and his wife left Cody on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Philadelphia. They served another mission to Brooklyn, N.Y., where they opened a genealogy research library.

Upon returning he continued serving as a patriarch for his church for 32 years and gave 1,411 blessings to young men and women.

Mr. Robertson loved fishing and spending time with his 31 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, sons Reed (Jacque), Brian (Jane), Dane (Mary Beth), Kevin (Rhonda), Eric (Theresa) and their families, brother Reece Robertson of Salt Lake City and sister Elda Huling on Phoenix, Ariz.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Dec. 23 at the Cody LDS Stake Center with interment and military honors following in Riverside Cemetery.
