KILLED BY FALL OF ROCK IN THE CALUMET & HECLA
MARCO OSSOVICH. TRAMMER LOSES LIFE LAST NIGHT.
Is Survived by Wife and Four children in Croatia.
Marco Ossovich, aged 42, a resident of Red Jacket. was instantly killed about 8 o’clock last night on the 57th level of No. 2 shaft of the Red Jacket branch of the C.&H. Mining Company.
The decedent, who was working the night shift, proceeded to fill the first car of rock for the night in the company with a trammer partner. The men had just filled the car, and were in the act of pushing it out to the shaft mouth, when a large piece of overhanging rock came away without warning, catching Ossovich in its embrace.
Coroner William Fisher was notified of the accident and impaneled a jury, which conducted an inquest, returning a verdict to the effect that death was accidental.
Arrangements for the funeral were completed this morning following the inquest. It will take place tomorrow afternoon with services at St. John’s Croatian church, under the auspices of the Troistval society, of which the deceased was a member. He had no relatives in the copper country.
