About Markus Benesch
Familiant record: book 145, HBF XV/V Táborský (Obrátice (III. svobodnická čtvrť)), folio 159, image 74/80 (Vademecum; Zayt; Badatelna screen shot)
Grave (as "Mendel Benesch," מענדל בענעש): Babčice, grave no. 78a (Chewra.com)
There is a record of a Markus Benesch in Pavlov in the 1793 Tábor District census, but with some details that do not match the Familiant record (PDF at Census lists of Jews in Bohemia, 1723/1724–1811, p. 74):
Marcus Benesch (3), verheiratet / gehört in Schutz nach: Pawlow / besitzt sein eingekauftes eigenen Haus eben wie der vorgehende
hat 3 Kinder:
dessen Sohn erstgeborner Wolf, ledig
zweiter Isak, ledig
dann eine Tochter Ludmilla
Unfortunately, Markus's wife is not named. According to the Familiant record, Markus had twin sons named "Jakob" (not "Wolf") and "Isak," written with Isak first, implying that he is the first-born of the twins, not the second-born. Whatever the source of the discrepancies, this must be the household of the same Markus Benesch. —M.R.
