- According to Wolf, Markus and his family were deported on 28 October 1938 to the German/Polish border (Beuthen/Bytom); the family was allowed to return on 31 October 1938, probably because Markus was not a Polish citizen.
- Markus Oronowicz was arrested in the Reichspogromnacht of 9/10 November 1938 but was released the same day. Markus Oronowicz went alone to Poland to find a safe place for his family

- Markus Oronowicz came to Altenburg (Thuringia, about 22 miles south of Leipzig) in 1920. There he met his later wife Regina (Rivka) Handweiler who probably lived here a bit earlier than her later husband. She came to Altenburg with her brother Philipp (Fischel) Handweiler.
- Markus Oronowicz and Regina Handweiler married in 1921 in Altenburg.
- Markus Oronowicz worked as a salesman with his wife.
- The Oronowicz family lived as lodgers in the house of Moses Habermann (Moshe Haberman) under the address "Pauritzer Strasse 27".
- Markus Oronowicz was arrested in the "Kristallnacht" in the police jail at the market place of Altenburg and was one of five Jewish man who were released on 10th November 1938.
- In April 1939 Markus Oronowicz emigrated to Poland. He later was in Rzeszow and Lemberg (Lvov).
- During the German occupation he was in the Drohobycz ghetto and worked as a forced laborer for an oil company in a forced labor camp.
- Later he fled from the camp and hid himself near Drohobycz until August 1944 when the Red Army came.
- In 1946 he went to Breslau (Wroclaw), later to Austria and finally Germany. In 1951 he emigrated with his second wife to the USA.
