Funeral services for Mrs. John (Martha) Nasset, 85, of Maddock were conducted from the North Viking Lutheran Church on Saturday, 16 Nov 1974 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Russell Wierschke and Rev. Chris Hallanger officiating. Interment was in the North Viking Cemetery.

Mrs. Nasset died on Monday 11 Nov 1974 in the Maddock Memorial Hospital where she has been a resident for some time. Casket bearers were Gerald Motschenbacher, Albert Arne, Edwin Simonson, Ben Evenhus, Robert Hunter and Arden Markestad. Gilma Hovland was organist. Vernon Jacobson was soloist. The Wheeler Funeral Home of Maddock was in charge of arrangements.

Martha Rise was born on 23 Oct 1889 the daughter of Ole and Ildri Rise in Oppland, Norway. She attended public school in Norway and immigrated to the United States in 1907 to the Maddock area of ND. She lived in the Isabel community until her marriage to Ole E. Lowe on 29 Nov 1908 in Minnewaukan. The couple resided in Maddock until 1915 when they moved to a farm northwest of Maddock. In succeeding years they farmed on several farms all in the Maddock area.

On 20 Oct 1938 she was united in marriage to John Nasset in Minnewaukan. They moved to Flora in 1939 where they served as janitors for the Flora School for many years. In 1955 they moved to Maddock where she has lived since. Mrs. Nasset was a member of the Stony Lake Church and LCW and of North Viking Church and LCW and a member of a homemakers club of Maddock.

Surviving are two sons, Oliver Lowe of Maddock and Roy Lowe of Burlington, WA; three daughters, Mrs. Paul (Violet) Wold of Maddock, Mrs. Gordon (Dorothy) Lynne of Heimdal and Mrs. Fred (Evelyn) Deittman of Salt Lake City, UT; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John in 1958; a son Freddie in 1932; her parents; two sisters; and one brother.
