Martha Jane Redding (Swaim) was born circa 1779 in Asheboro, Randolph County, North Carolina, United States. Her parents were John Swaim and Elizabeth Swaim (Vickery).

Martha married John Redding. Together they had the following children:

2. Elizabeth Plummer (Redding);
3. Jesse Redding;
4. Sarah Steed (Redding).

She died circa 1830 in Randolph County, North Carolina, United States.
