ie. he was still under 25 years old at that date. On 27th March 1727

he is described as a minor (minderjarig) and his stepfather, Claas

Jansz van Rensburg and his uncle, Willem van Staden, are looking

after his affairs (MOOC 1/5, page 11).

They also had a farm called the Doornekraal, on the Vette Rivier.

The children are listed as given in the inventory drawn up on

3rd October 1746 after his death. Their dates of birth are from

their ages as given in this inventory.
