About Martin Thomas Deering
USMC Private Martin Thomas DEERING was killed in action during the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was one of 652 Marines of the 24th Marines of the 4th Marine Division who died during this ferocious campaign. He was awarded a Purple Heart posthumously for his heroic action.
