About Martin M. Heffernan
Mr Heffernan came to America in 1882 first settling in Iowa where his brother lived. He married Ann Burke in 1908 in Chicago and came to Redfield to make their home. Martin worked for the railroad and was a carpenter.
An early settler in Fordham Township, Clark, South Dakota in 1915 on Section 18 and farmed until 1931 when they moved to E1/2 Sec. 2.
Children born to the couple were: Charles in 1909, John (Jack)arrived in 1911 and Mary in 1914.
