About Martin Weatherford

Martin Weatherford, son of William Weatherford III and Susanna Wilkerson, was born about 1729 in James City, Virginia Colony

After Augusta, Georgia fell in the early 1780s to the British, Martin Weatherford was one of 250 Loyalists who were banished from the state and had their land confiscated.

Weatherford died in March 1805 as a resident of Russell Island, Eleuthera, The Bahamas and was likely buried at the Sir George W. K. Roberts Memorial Library, Dunmore Town, Harbour Island, The Bahamas.

He had signed a will 28 July 1800 in Harbour Island, Eleuthera, The Bahamas, with Joseph Curry, Sr., Samuel Johnson, and Jeremiah Higgs as witnesses. The will was proved 23 March 1805. Isabella Weatherford, his wife, was named executrix. Per a newspaper notice submitted 29 March 1805 and published 5 April 1805, the attorney for the executrix was William Kerr.
