Mary Ladson Albrecht

She was the daughter of the Charleston (S.C.) cotton merchant Edward Twells Robertson and his first wife Sara Gilmor Ladson.

She married Carl Albrecht, a wealthy cotton merchant from the city-state of Bremen.

She was the great-grandmother of the President-designate of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who lived for a year in London under the name Rose Ladson.

She was mainly of English and Scottish descent, with some French, Swiss, German and Irish ancestors.
