

"Stanton, Mary Ann 76, of Phoenix passed away on February 5, 2012. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Mary Ann was an avid reader and student of the English language. She loved being an educator, teaching English, most notably at Hewlett High School on Long Island, New York. A devout Catholic, Mary Ann's daily actions were an extension of her faith and passion for social justice. Her vocation was to serve others, especially those less fortunate. Mary Ann and her husband, Fred, created a volunteer organization called Christian Needs Network, which collected clothes, food, blankets, and other necessities for needy individuals and families throughout the Valley. Each year, they also gathered together Christmas presents for families who could not afford their own. They led Christian Needs Network for over thirty years. Mary Ann was a loving, committed wife and a wonderful role model for her children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Louise Johnpoll, sister Elaine and brothers James and Harry Jr. Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 46 years, Fred, daughter Suzanna, son Paul (Lori), son Greg (Nicole), daughter Maria (Charles), and grandchildren Amber, Marcus, Rylee, Trevor, Jayden and Violet. A visitation will be celebrated on Thursday, February 9th (Rosary 6:00pm, Visitation 6:30pm) at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 10815 N. 35th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 10th at 10:00am at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 10815 N. 35th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ.
