Mary Magdelena Applegate

Mary was the daughter of Adam and Magdaline (Hall) Kutcher. On the 6th of January 1898 she married Henry Valintine Applegate. They had one son (Alvin Henry) and three daughters (Julia Magdalina, Georgia Margaret, and Ella Maria). They lived on a farm south west of Kahoka in Lincoln township. Mrs. Henry Applegate Obit: Mary Magdalene Applegate, nee Kutcher, the daughter of the late Adam and Magdalene (Hall) Kutcher was born on December 23, 1877 and passed away at St. Joesph's hospital, Keokuk, on Thursday morning, July 5, 1934, at 10:10 o'clock. She thus attained the age of 56 years, 10 months and 12 days. She became a member of St. Paul's Evangelical church by the rite of confirmation on April 10,1892. On January 6, 1898, she was united in marriage with Henry V. Applegate, and to this union four children were born. Her passing is mourned by her husband, Henry Applegate, and their four children: Alvin Applegate of Kahoka; Mrs. Loyd Brotherton of Kahoka; Mrs. Otto Mohr of Kahoka, and Miss Ella Applegate of Kahoka; fourteen grandchildren, and three brothers and two sisters: John Kutcher of Farmington, Iowa; Adam Kutcher of Kahoka; Chas.Kutcher of Keokuk, Iowa; Mrs. Clark Wright and Mrs. Richard Wright of Kahoka, as well as other relatives and many friends and acquaintances. The funeral services were held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in St. Paul's Evangelical church at Kahoka with the Rev. Theo. F. Schumacher, pastor of the church, in charge. The pallbearers were: Herbert Kirchner, Teddy Mohr, N. Deihl, Ed. Riggs, George P. Mohr, and Henry Saar. A quartette composed of Miss Mary Plenge, Miss Luella Mohr, C.H. Krueger and Charles Krueger sang appropriate hymns. The organist was Mrs. H.E. Mohr. Interment was at St. Paul's cemetery.
