Mary is often given a much later birthdate than 1723, however this is likely due to the fact that she had to be shoehorned into her father's second wife's life. In fact, her mother was not Mary Lillian Beatty but rather Easter Johnston, who married Matthew in 1722 in Clogher, County Tyrone, and died around 1741. Mary was named after Easter's mother, according to Irish naming tradition, which makes her Matthew's first daughter.
