

Mary Kassell/Cassel/Castle was born around 1678 in Kresheim in the Palatinate (which is in the present day known as Kriegsheim in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. A genealogical history of the Cassel family in America. Norristown, PA: Morgan R. Wills, 1896. Pages 29-30. She is the daughter of Johannes Kassell and sailed with him and her four older siblings aboard the ship "Jefries" in 1686 to come to America. Early Chester County Arrivals (1686): Chester County, PA. Her father and immediate family were Quakers, although her extended family were Mennonites.
On May 28, 1701, Mary was married to John Cadwallader, who was born in Montgomeryshire, Wales in 1676. They were married at Abington MM and had ten children together. Baker, Anna Supplee Hill.

The following Memorial to Mary Cadwallader was submitted by the Abington MM to the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting in 1758:
"On the 8th of the 11th month, 1728, died Mary Cadwallader, the wife of John Cadwallader, deceased. She was appointed an Elder for Horsham Particular Meeting, and died in that station. She was inoffensive in Life and Conversation, discreet and careful in the management of her husband's affairs when he was abroad in Truth's Service; aged near 50 years, was buried at Horsham,"
