Mary Bowie Carpenter

Mary Bowie Robertson Carpenter, 86, of Charlottesville died on Tuesday May 3, 2016, at Martha Jefferson Hospital. She was born on October 13, 1929, in Scarsdale, N.Y. to the late Harrison Marshall Robertson and Mary Mackenzie France. She was preceded in death by a son, Chapin Carpenter III.

She was an administrator for many years at National Cathedral School in Washington, D.C. before retiring to Charlottesville.

Mother of Mackenzie of Pittsburgh, Pa., Camilla of Washington, D.C., Mary Chapin of Virginia, and Sophie Speidel and husband, Rusty of Ivy, Va., eight grandchildren, and five nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2016, at Christ Episcopal Church with the Rev. Paul Walker officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Burial will be private.
