http://fam.eastmill.com/f367.htm#f6117 Mary Turner, wife to Edmund Chamberlain of Chelmsford, died at the house of Samuel Ruggles in Roxbury, 7 December 1669.

Source - A Documentary History of Chelsea including the Boston Precincts of Winnismemet, Rumney Marsh and Pullen Point. 1624 - 1824 by Mellen Chamberlain. Appendex 1 page 651. Mary Tuner married Edmund Chamberlain on 4 Jan 1646/7 in Roxbury, MA as his first wife. The marriage was performed by Rev. John Eliot. Edmund Chamberlain spelled his name as "Chamberline." Mary's birth date is not known.

They had seven known children:

1) Mary (bp. 16 Apr 1648, Roxbury, Suffolk, MA). She was again baptized as a child of about 8 years of age on 1 Feb 1656, Chelmsford, MA. Mary died before 1675 as a second Mary Chamberlain was born to Edmund and his second wife.

2) Sarah (18 Dec 1649 Woburn, Middlesex, MA - 25 Dec 1717 Roxbury, MA) Married Joseph Davis, 28 Oct 1670, Roxbury, MA.

3) John (12 Jan 1651 Woburn, Middlesex, MA - 3 Mar 1652 Woburn, MA). His birth was not recorded and the record of his death (John, s. of —) provides no information about his parentage, but he is with little doubt, a son of Edmund.

4) Elizabeth (11 Mar 1652 Woburn, Middlesex, MA - 1678 Woburn). The record of her birth simply calls her “daughter of Emond Chamberlin.” Her baptism in 1656 with her siblings identify her as “Elizabeth, about 5 years old.” Married Thomas Wheeler, 5 May 1673, Charlestown, MA.

5) John (About 1654 Woburn, Middlesex, MA - 27 Dec 1721, Chelsea, MA) Married Hannah, about 1677, probably Middlesex County, MA.

6) Edmund (30 May 1656 Chelmsford, Middlesex, MA - 19 Dec 1675 Dedham, MA) Baptized Chelmsford on 29 June 1656. He was a soldier in Capt. Samuel Moseley’s Company during King Philip’s War and was killed on 19 Dec 1675, while engaged in the great “Swamp Fight” at Dedham, MA. Never married.

7) Jacob (15 Oct 1658 Chelmsford, Middlesex, MA - 7 Nov 1721 Roxbury, MA) Married (1) Mary Child, 24 Jan 1683/84, Roxbury, MA; (2) Sarah (Faxon) Weld, 29 Apr 1719, Roxbury, MA.

Mary died at Roxbury “1669, Month 10, day 7...at Samuel Ruggles’ house (Roxbury Vital Records, CR-1).” She appears to have been there on a visit and may have been related to that family. Her tombstone, which has no dates on it, is located near the tombstone of Gov. Dudley in the Eliot Burying Ground also called Eustis Street Cemetery in West Roxbury.

After her death Edmund Chamberlain married secondly to Hannah Witter (1630 Swampscott, Essex, Massachusetts - 28 Jul 1696 Woodstock, Windham, Connecticut) the daughter of William Witter and Annis Churchman. They had five more children:

1) Susanna (June 1671 Malden, Middlesex, MA - 6 May 1672, Malden, MA) died young.

2) Ebenezer (1 Apr 1672, Malden, Middlesex, MA – 6 Dec 1672 Malden, MA) died young.

3) Susanna (Jun 1674 Malden, Middlesex, MA - 16 Dec 1713 Boston, Suffolk, MA). She is given as a daughter by Austin and Bowen, but is not mentioned in vital records. Married, as his second wife, John Tuckerman, 14 Nov 1693, Boston, MA.

4) Edmund (31 Jan 1675 Malden, Middlesex, MA - 18 Dec 1751 Woodstock, Windham, Connecticut) married Elizabeth Bartholomew, 21 Nov 1699, Woodstock, Windham, Connecticut.

5) Mary (bp. 22 Sep 1678 Roxbury, Suffolk, MA) married James Leavens, 21 Nov 1699, Woodstock, CT.
