She married in 1798 Lewis Chamblee (said to be her cousin) in Pendleton District (now Anderson County), South Carolina, and was given land by her father Joshua Burriss in 1804 where they lived until 1825-30. About that time they sold their log home and the tract it sat on to Judge Whitner, who enlarged it considerably and renamed it "Rose Hill," anf the Chamblees moved to Alabama. Lewis Chamblee was in Pickens County, Alabama by 1830, where he obtained a grant in 1832 for lands in Greene County, AL, lands on and just south of the Sipsey River in a region that was ceded to Pickens County, AL in 1832 but which reverted to Greene County, AL thereafter. He was mentioned in Greene County probate records of 1839 but was living over the line in Pickens County, Al by 1840 and 1850 census records.
"After Lewis Chamblee's death, his widow (Martha) married Joseph M. Lewis."
