Biography
First wife of Benjamin Cheney, married in 1701 and died in 1705. Daughter of Joseph Cheney. Mary Cheney died at Cambridge, Massachusetts, on 31 Oct 1705,[4] eight days after giving birth to twin daughters,[5] her third and fourth children. She was 22 years old.
Mary Cheney was born at Medfield, Massachusetts, on 23 Jun 1683, the dauighter of Joseph Cheney and Hannah (Thurston) Cheney.[1]
Mary Cheney married Benjamin Cheney. No record has been found of the marriage, but in 1718 Benjamin conveyed to his brother-in-law Josiah Cheney all his own interest and that of the children of his “first wife, Mary Cheney, daughter of Joseph Cheney, late of Medfield” in the estate of her father.[2] Their first child was born on 21 Apr 1702.[3] They were first cousins, both grandchildren of William Cheney (abt.1603-1667) and Margaret (Unknown) Cheney (abt.1604-1686).
