About Mary Deming
Mary Graves, the daughter of Nathaniel and Martha (Betts) Graves, was born 11 Nov 1658, in Wethersfield, Connecticut.[1]
Her marriage has a rather cryptic entry in the Barbour Collection of Wethersfield town records. "Graves, Mary, d. wid. [ ], m. John Deming, s. Sergt [ ], June 5, 1684" [1] Elsewhere this has been interpreted as daughter of widow Graves and son of Sergt. Deming.[2]
Her husband, John, died 25 Nov 1729 in Wethersfield.[3] An inventory valued at £32-07-05 was taken 23 January, 1729-30, by Samuel Benton, Jonathan Robbins and Noadiah Dickinson.Administration was granted to Mary Deming, the widow, and Nathaniel Deming.[4]
They had:
Abigail on 4 Oct 1693,[1] or 7 Oct 1693[2]
Nathaniel on 2 Sep 1696 [1][2] m. Mary Webb 25 Jan 1722; Inventory taken 31 Jan 1748/9.[5]
Mary on 27 Sep 1700[1][2]
Wethersfield records list a Deming, Mary, w. John d. 21 Dec 1723.[1] Find a grave has an unverified memorial stating her death as Sep. 25, 1729. Sept 25, 1729 is the date of death erroneously given for John Deming in the Boardman Ancestry.[6] But she was definitely alive at the beginning of 1730. Her mother in law, also a Mary Deming supposedly died in 1714.
