Mary was the daughter of Nathaniel A. and Rosan Sanderson Barton. She married Andrew Dial on Dec. 6, 1906 in the Back Swamp section of Robeson county, North Carolina.

The following was taken from the Oct. 9, 1977 edition of THE ROBESONIAN:

Mary Dial, 87, died Friday. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Harper's Ferry Baptist Church.

The Rev. T. M. Swett, the Rev. Harvey Brewington and the Rev. Steve Jones will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemtery.

Surviving are: five sons, Bernice, Richard and Alvin of Rowland, Hardwick of Lumberton and Ernest of Detroit, Mich.; six daughters, Mrs. Maggie Harris and Mrs. Clement Bullard of Maxton, Mrs. Sarah A. Locklear and Mrs. Ashley Locklear of Rowland, and Miss Suphronie Dial and Ms. Mary Locklear of Downey, Cal.; one sister, Mrs. Lucy Chavis of Rowland; and 40 grandchildren and 68 great grandchildren.

The family will receive from 7 until 9 p.m. today at Locklear and Son Funeral Home.
