About Mary Jane Esser
Mrs. Esser, 60, of Middletown, died Feb. 27 at home, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Framingham, Mass., she had been a resident of Middletown for the past 30 years.
Mrs. Esser was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She was a former president of St. James School PTO, a Girl Scout and Brownie leader, and a foster care mother for newborns for Catholic Charities.
She was predeceased by her mother, Dorothy Pampel Williams; and a brother, David Williams. Mrs. Esser is survived by her husband of 38 years, Ronald D. Esser; her father, Gordon Williams; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Christopher and Laura Esser, and Matthew and Lisa Esser, all of Middletown, and Steven Esser of Portland, Ore.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gretchen and Joel Hughes, and Juli and Dwayne Primeaux, all of Youngsville, La.; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Richard Williams of El Paso, and Brian and Jane Williams of New Canaan, Conn.; her mother-in-law, Geraldine Esser of Daytona Beach; and four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Raritan Bay Health Care Foundation, 471 Lawrie St., Perth Amboy 08861.
