Miss Mary A. Fish died at her home on Fearing Street after a long illness. She was born in Amherst and passed her life in town. She was born Sept. 1, 1865, and died Aug. 31, 1911 thus rounding out an even number of years. She was one of the town's most efficient dressmakers having worked at the trade for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Baptist church, having united with church at the age of 10. She taught for several years in the Sunday-school, and was superintendent of the Home Department at the time of her death. She was treasurer of the Woman's home missionary society for 12 years, and a charter member of the Christian Endeavor society in which she worked for many years. She leaves a father, Lauriston Consul Fish, a brother Charles Thomas Fish and a sister Hattie Fannie Fish. The funeral services were held Sunday after noon, conducted by Rev. J. M. Lent. The Odd Fellows' quartet rendered two selections. The bearers were cousins of the deceased, E. L. Fish, C. R. Damon, S. S. Hyde and H. W. Reed.
