About Mary Jane French
Researched by M Hollis Hutchinson (genealassie@gmail.com):
The name of Lafford's first wife - the mother of his children - is unknow n.
If it is true that Lafford's Bible was given to his eldest daughter and t hat was the Bible seen by my grandmother, who helped transcribe the lis t of children from it for the publication of "James Lewis French", then o ne has to wonder why there is not even a first name given for this woman.
If the family tradition of naming children after their elders was used, t hen it is possible that Lafford's first wife was named "Mary", since tha t is the name of the eldest daughter.
