Somewhat unsurprisingly, neither do Mary nor her husband ever appear in any census data.... Perhaps they liked to remain below the radar, so to speak.

There is one candidate census (1840 Dock Ward) which would be a match, if the age of the male were different. Theophilous was not in his 70s
