About Mary Theresa Hart
The daughter of Marie Theresa Gorsuch Hart and James M. Hart, Mary Theresa Hart was born in 1872 in Brooklyn, New York and studied with her father as well as with Edgar Melville Ward at the National Academy of Design.
Between 1889 and 1895, she was enrolled in antique and life classes at the Academy and won several awards, achieving some recognition for her "single minded devotion to the subject of violets." (Kapps, 251) In addition to easel painting, these images also appear (showing 500 of 1402 characters).
