Mary Alma Layne

Mary Alma Crowe Layne, 87, widow of Delmar Ottis Layne, passed away May 15, 2019 at her home. She was born on June 11, 1931 in Winchester, KY to the late James Thomas “JT” and Allie White Crowe. She was a full-time homemaker. Faithfully attended the West Bend Church of God, where she served the Lord as a teacher, singing with Trio, and many other areas. She was always willing to witness about her walk with the Lord and what he had done for her. During the past year of illness, she would often quote and explain: Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

She is survived by one daughter, Helena Gale (Donald) Watts and two sons, Delmar Eugene (Dianna) Layne, and Stephen Grant (Mandy) Layne. Two granddaughters: Hilary Diane (Terry) Cockrell and Sierra Nicole Hacker. Seven grandsons: Joel Dean, Brian Scott (Becky), Branden Tyler, Conner Jacob, Graham Asher, Bennett Stephen and Foster Grant Layne. Great grandchildren, Jaleigh Nichole, Kiley Jean, Luke Bridger and Montgomery River Cockrell, Santana Marie and Emma Lynn Hacker, Breanna Faith, Joel Dean “JD”, and Katelynn Alexis Jade Layne. Her sister Juanita (Charles) Abney, sister-in-law, Mary Catherine Crowe and brother-in-law, William Hunt. She leaves behind a very special pet named Angel and frequently referred to her as “My Baby.”

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: James (Laverne Crowe), Oddie (Aileen) Crowe, Elba (Hazel) Crowe, Owen (Nell) Crowe, Clara (Albert) Clem, Willard Crowe, Kenneth (Betty) Crowe, Nannie (Coleman) Ginter, Frances (John) Ginter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ethel M. Hunt, Dallas (Bertha) Layne and Dillon (Stella) Layne.

Services will be at 11:00AM, Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Scobee Funeral Home by Bro. Ray Wyant and Bro. Bill Konstantopoulos. Burial will follow in the Clarmont Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are grandsons: Brian, Branden, Conner and J.D. Layne, Luke Cockrell, Donnie Catron and Mike Flynn. Honorary pallbearers: Men and Women of the West Bend Church of God.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 9:00AM until time of the service at Scobee Funeral Home.
