Mary Frances Mack Dec. 2, 1924 ~ Oct. 27, 2008 Resident of Richmond Beloved mother of seven children; resident of Richmond for over 60 years, passed on October 27, 2008.
A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mary moved to California in 1947, where she married Jewell Mack, Sr. A graduate of St. Mary's College, she was one of the early staff at Contra Costa County Legal Services (now known as Bay Area Legal Aid), as well as Richmond Model Cities (one of the City's first public housing programs). In addition to her commitment to civic issues, Mary had a love for blues music, going back to her roots in Tulsa. An independent spirit known for freely sharing her wisdom, she touched many lives.
Mary is survived by three daughters Frances Nelson, Patsy Gholson-Bolden and Kathie Stewart; three sons Thomas Gholson, Jewell Mack, Jr. and Gerald Mack. Mary's son Kevin Mack preceded her in death. Mary also leaves behind two brothers, Laron and Donald Ray Heard; a sister Alberta Hubbard; seventeen grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial services will be held at 11am on November 7, 2008 at Wilson & Kratzer Mortuaries, 455 24th Street, Richmond, CA. Wilson & Kratzer Mortuaries Civic Center Chapel (510) 232-4383
