Mary Martin

Robert Brandon and Katherine Barber had the following children:

iii.      MARY BRANDON was born in 1566 in London, England (Baptized St Vedast Foster Lane, London, Eng). She married John (Capt) Martin, son of Richard Martin on 23 May 1586 in St Vedast Foster Lane, London, Eng. He was born in 1560 in England. He died before 1632 in Martin's Brandon Plantation, Jamestown, Prince George Co, VA.

  Mary Brandon's father was Robert Brandon, Chamberlain of London and also a goldsmith.Mary's sister was married to Nicolas Hilliard painter for James 1, and Elizabeth 1. They are also related to the Charles Brandon who married Henry the 8th's, sister Mary Tudor when she returned from France after being queen of France. Henry the 8th allowed his sister to marry for love after doing her duty and marrying the nasty king of France. After her tour of duty in France, she returned to England and chose Charles Brandon as her husband. Charles Brandon was Henry the 8th's best friend, and they had been raised together as children.

Martin commanded the Benjamin under Sir Francis Drake in the 1585–86 expedition[2] to harass the Spanish ports in the New World. On his return, Captain Martin married Mary, daughter of Robert Brandon, a prominent English goldsmith and supplier to Queen Elizabeth I of England.
