About Mary Elizabeth van Beuren Mitchell
NY Times 29 Sep 1921. Mary Davis Mitchell. "Mrs. Mary Elizabeth D. Mitchell of 24 West Tenth Street, widow of Cornelius Berrien Mitchell, died suddenly yesterday in Roosevelt Hospital of an embolism following a brief illness that had obliged her to come to the hospital from her Summer home in Morristown. Mrs. Mitchell was a granddaughter of Michael M. Van B(e)uren, who "established "* the Van B(e)uren farm in Fourteenth Street, and she was one of the four owners of the property whose large mansion is still one of the city's landmarks."
To be accurate: ~• It was Henry Spingler who established the farm several generations before Michael M. van Beuren; and this was on his wife's side of the family ~ Mrs. Michael M. van Beuren then..
Mary Elizabeth had a country home in Morristown which most likely came to her through her mother and grandmother. It was called "Acacias Farm " and was where she raised horses for show. See: Newark Evening Star and Newark Advertiser
