A daughter of Isaac Merritt Singer (the sewing machine inventor/improver, of NY) and Mary Ann Sponsler (of PA)...

She married Sturges S. Whitlock in Derby, CT on 16 Oct 1867. They had 3 children, 2 surviving to adulthood:
1. Charles, b.Oct 1868; d.Jun 1869 (infant)
2. Olive Vouletti, b.1870 (Mrs. Walter Randall)
3. Mary Lillian, b.1872 (Mrs. Alton Terrell)

"The Los Angeles Times" in late Jan 1890 said:
Mrs. Sturges Whitlock arrived with 2 daughters (Misses Lillian and Vouletti Whitlock) at "The Raymond" (Hotel) in Los Angeles on January 22, 1890, coming west on the Southern Pacific RR.
The girls married a few years after this novel trip out west.

Her husband Sturges eventually was elected as a state senator for Connecticut.
